Passerelle Contemporary Art Center is a well-known exhibition and mediation venue in France and abroad, created in 1988 by local art supporters in Brest and the surrounding area.

Passerelle's team sets up exhibitions and workshops for all ages, and also welcomes concerts and other events. The aim is to create links between the works, the artists, and the public.

We invite artists from the local, national, and international scenes to produce or show works, paintings, photographs, sculptures, installations, etc., for group or solo exhibitions. We also welcome artists in residence every year. During their stay, we support them through every stage of their project.

As an extension of the exhibitions, the Atelier des publics at Passerelle Centre d'art contemporain is a space for artistic practice, open to all, free and without appointment. Each season, the public can experiment with new, simple tools designed to encourage creativity, stimulate the imagination, and promote the pleasure of expressing oneself through contemporary art. 

Guided tours, artistic workshops, and meetings are scheduled throughout the year, designed as special opportunities for discussion about the works or themes addressed in the exhibitions.

In order to make contemporary art accessible to as many people as possible, we develop projects in collaboration with professionals in the fields of education, social work, and justice. Together, we devise special programs and lively, joyful events around works of art and artists.

As a resource center for arts and cultural education in Brittany, we have created Pop, an original program for producing objects designed to stimulate interest in art. Communities and artists work together to design interactive artworks that are meant to be handled and shared, and are available for loan to cultural venues, schools, childcare and community centers.

Passerelle also exists outside its walls, notably at the Manoir de Kerlaouen in Lesneven (29), which welcomes exhibitions by local and international artists in a beautiful wooded setting.

Passerelle is a community based organization, labeled “Center for Contemporary Art of National Interest.”
